Coming in a little late, but.

This may seal the deal about me being a total dork, but I had this weird, unhealthy infatuation with the Backstreet Boys back in Junior High. Which meant I knew all the songs by heart, including the dance moves. So, I would teach her how to do that awesomly uncool Backstreet Boys song "Everybody.".......LOL

Check out http://www.reviewsnest.com/SingingLessons . They review lots of online singing lessons courses for use at home (they don't sell the courses - just review them). Much cheaper than using a teacher - and from my experience also very effective. I bought their #2 recommendation and it is excellent, but expensive. They review courses from around $30, so i guess you'll be able to find a good course you can afford.

1. Warm up to the scales on the piano. Do it w/vowels or a letter in front of a vowel like, na, ha, ga...
2. Sing to songs that have good vocal ranges like, Mariah Carey, Whitney, Christina Aguilera, classical, broadway, whatever... as long as they have a good vocal range so that you can expand your voice.
3. Sing w/feeling. Understand the words and what they mean then deliver. When you're singing, you're telling a story so read the words and deliver as though you are telling a story.
4. Drink lots of water.
5. Have fun.

Good luck.

If you don't want to invest in singing lessons join a choir! The thing with vocal is that you really need an unbiased ear to guide you - and to help you learn proper technique!! If not a singing teacher or choral director find a musically inclined friend who is willing to lend you a hand.

People could give you written advice until their fingers fell off and it would do you no practical good. Singing requires someone to both hear you and see you. You wouldn't try to teach me how to play piano online, would you?

What you can do yourself is practice. Knowing how to play piano can be a valuable asset. You'll be able to check yourself to see if you are singing on key. Also you can read music - another great asset! You're well set for practicing on your own, but you really need to make sure you understand the basics of posture, breathing and enunciation.

Really singing lessons are where you learn the basics of singing - everything from posture and breathing to projection. How to use your head voice, your chest voice and your middle voice to your advantage. How to do all of this without causing permanent damage to your vocal muscles - which is easier than you might think!

Singing lessons aren't just for those who are learning to sing, they are also for those who want to improve their singing - and there is always room for improvement.

if you don't have any money for singing lessons ask someone you know who might know a little bit about singing they might help. If you dont know anybody and if you are still in school. see if your school has a choir or ask a school music teacher for some advice. I am in choir and theses tips seem to really help me.
1. Sing with your mouth wide open (like an O shape).
2. Warm up your voice with your piano by singing Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do an playing C D E F G A B C on the piano.
3. When you read Music follow the notes like if they go up or down, then you should make your voice go up or down.
4. when you sing make sure your voice doesn't sound to breathy try holding your breath for a couple of measures and don't take breaths in between every note.
5. start off with easy music don't jump in to the really hard songs right away if you want ot sound really good you should practice. practice. practice
6. Try to tell if your voice is high or low for example if your voice is high dont sing really low songs if your voice is low dont sing really high songs.
hope these tips help you.

I'm a singer and I've experience the same thing! It's very scary but fear not, help is at hand!

You say that you want your voice to return to it's norm, so maybe you have strained your voice. In this case, you need to rest your voice. Keeping on with the trying to sing when it may turn raspy will only strain your voice more and result in further damage.

You say that you sing loud (you wrote liud but I think thats what you meant) this may also be another reason as to why your voice is strained. Singing should not have to be loud, it is a skill which requires practice so perhaps you are not singing properly.

I'm sure once your voice has rested and recovered, you will easily be able to return to your normal voice. If you could do it at one point, it can't be lost forever. Hope this helps!
